CLIFTON, N.J. -- Contract pharmaceutical packaging customers will soon get faster line changeovers, better throughput with reduced tooling expenditures thanks to a new Countec electronic counting machine recently installed by Compass Pharma Services LLC.
“Our business strategy is to provide pharmaceutical customers with packaging services that are both fast and cost effective,” said Tony Fenno, Chief Operating Officer, Compass Pharma Services. “The Countec electronic feed system let’s us eliminate three or four hours of changeover time per job, and helps avoid the capital expense of new change tooling when compared to slat fillers. This gives our customers a time and cost advantage, both of which are essential for deadline-intensive tasks such as packaging for clinical trials and seasonal promotions.”
The Countec DMC-60S is a 12-track vibratory counting machine that can package up to 60 bottles per minute and handle tablets with diameters from 3 to 20mm, and thickness up to 2.2mm, or capsule and softgel sizes from #00 to #5.
Compass will use the new machine to package tablets, capsules and other solid-dose products into bottles for stability trials and clinical tests or standard production.
The equipment was purchased through Key International, Inc., Countec’s North American affiliate.
